Our Services

We're seeking to lead people further into a life-altering relationship with the living God—and our worship services reflect that. The authority of God's Word is preached without apology and His Son is exalted with gratitude and adoration.

Senior Pastor James MacDonald regularly preaches from the Rolling Meadows Campus and the Elgin Campus. Weekend services on campuses where preaching is not live include Christ-exalting worship and the message delivered through simulcast.

When Pastor James is out of the pulpit, preaching is supplied by our Campus Pastors and, occasionally, guest preachers. Sermons are captured on audio and video, and available in the lobby following each service.

Children's Ministry for boys and girls from birth through fifth grade is provided on all campuses.

Our History

In 1988, a group of eighteen people from across the northwest suburbs gathered to form a new church. They had a vision for proclaiming the authority of the Word of God without apology, lifting high the name of Jesus through worship, believing firmly in the power of prayer, and sharing the good news of Jesus with boldness. Harvest Bible Chapel was born on September 18, 1988 with James MacDonald serving as the Senior Pastor.

Since that time the Lord has worked amazing things in our midst for His glory. We are presently ministering on seven Chicago-land campuses and have over 70 church plants around the world.

Our Mission

The mission of our ministry is to glorify God by making disciples—to fulfill the Great Commission in the spirit of the great commandment (Matthew 28:19-20; Matthew 22:37).

Our obedience to this mission is the foundation of every Harvest ministry. From worship services to Children's Ministry to Student and Adult Ministries, our chief aim is to make authentic disciples of Christ who follow His ways in their Worship, their Walk, and their Work.

Our Discipleship

Disciple-making is to be worked out mutually in ministry to one another. We believe it's not about one or a small number of pastors bearing the total responsibility to care for the entire congregation (Ephesians 4:11-12). Rather it's about all disciples using their God-given spiritual gifts to provide mutual ministry, in the context of a vibrant and strong local church.

Our primary means to develop these gifts, and to build up and serve one another is through our Small Group Ministry. Everyone who calls Harvest their church home is strongly encouraged to take part in a small group where the Scriptures are opened, lives are shared and prayer is upheld. Small group ministry even takes place within our Student and Children's Ministries. Nearly every type and demographic is available, and new groups are continually forming.
